Origin Story

I’m what people call a “good ole’ local boy”. Born and raised in Chesapeake, I adore the community. Graduating from Grassfield High, I started college in engineering, and started working for a development company. Very quickly found out working behind the desk doing the same thing every day was NOT what I anticipated.

I then traded the engineering world for the marine world. I began my journey on the tugboat. Quickly, I put in the effort and hustled up to obtain my captain’s license. As I progressed in the industry, I came to the conclusion that being gone two thirds of the year just wouldn’t do either! I needed to be home more.

Ah-ha, that’s it! I could pull together everything I loved. I could work outside, I could remain being a strong leader, and I could utilize my technical and problem-solving abilities. I would open BB’s Backyard & Beyond!
